Molder is one of my favorite academic projects of all time! Our assignment was to combine two politically contradicting bodies of work into one piece. My subject was NASA and I chose a speech from Obama and an article from the Washington Post that highlighted the financial issues the administration has faced. Obama’s speech declared the hopeful future, while the article painted a different picture about funding. The book was designed to be read horizontally and vertically, with the presidential speech dwindling by the end of the book. The design features a circular element that starts large and shrinks as it moves across the pages, representing the shrinking budget available for NASA. The book features photographs available from NASA’s website and clearly contradicting pull quotes from both sources.
